HOME CARE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Navigating home care can feel overwhelming when trying to determine the right type of support for yourself or a loved one. Learn the difference between home healthcare and home care, the types of services available, how to evaluate providers, costs and payment options—including private pay, long-term care insurance, veterans’ benefits, Medicaid, and disability resources—as well as how to develop a care plan and the pros and cons of hiring through an agency versus privately.

WOMEN’S HEART HEALTH

This session focuses on the unique risks women face related to heart disease. Learn why women are at greater risk, how symptoms can differ from those experienced by men, and why regular health screenings are critical. The program also covers key risk factors, prevention strategies, and practical steps to support long-term heart health, empowering participants to take proactive steps toward reducing their risk.

UNDERSTANDING LEWY BODY DEMENTIA

Learn about Lewy Body Dementia, including common symptoms, progression, care strategies, and available support resources. This program is designed for individuals, caregivers, and family members seeking greater understanding and practical guidance.

NUTRITION TIPS FOR AGING WELL

MAXIMIZING HOME CARE

This program takes a deeper look at how to build a successful and supportive relationship with a home care aide. Participants will explore the benefits and challenges of in-home assistance, what to expect from care services, and how to communicate effectively to ensure the best outcomes.

IN-HOME CAREGIVING FOR VETERANS

Many veterans qualify for in-home caregiving services through VA benefits, but navigating the options can be confusing. This program provides an overview of available caregiving support and how to access it. Learn about covered services such as meal preparation, medication reminders, bathing assistance, and mobility support. The session will also explain eligibility for key programs, including home health aide and respite care services and the Aid and Attendance pension.

FALLS PREVENTION

In honor of Falls Prevention Month, gain real-world insights on common fall-related emergencies and practical steps to reduce risks at home — how to identify hazards, prevent injuries, and create safer living environments to help avoid falls and emergency calls.

DECLUTTER AND DOWNSIZE

Reflecting on one’s values and communicating openly with those who may one day make healthcare decisions on one’s behalf ensures one’s documents remain “living” reflections of beliefs and priorities.

The holiday season can be especially challenging for older adults experiencing loss, isolation, or changes in independence. Explore how grief, loneliness, and changes in function can impact emotional well-being during the holidays. Learn practical tools and coping strategies to support themselves and loved ones during this season.

ARTHRITIS MANAGEMENT: ADVANCES IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
