Let's get moving.
At different times, CMAP will bring in fitness instructors to teach different classes, based on their specialty and the community's interest. Please see below for some examples of courses we have offered in the past.
The Feldenkrais Method
Feldenkrais Method helps participants increase ease and range of motion, improve flexibility and coordination, and rediscover a capacity for graceful movement. It works by using gentle movement and directed attention to reorganize connections between the brain and body for the purpose of improving movement and enhancing function. Leader Jaclyn (Jackie) Boone is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® teacher with twenty-one years of professional practice in the Feldenkrais Method.
Solvents & Glue
Solvents and Glue are a series of lessons for strengthening, solidifying, and special toning through an enormous variety of very precise movements that bring structural clarity to major joints of the body. Primarily done upright, with some sitting in a chair, and mat work. The sequences are invigorating to the musculoskeletal system and are a fitting complement to Feldenkrais®, Yoga, Pilates, as well as any other physical exercise, sport, or wellness practice.
Gental Mat Yoga
This expansive workshop encompasses yoga postures, yogic breathing and yoga sounds, which create profound deep relaxation and meditation. It is suitable for new students and seasoned practitioners.
Tai Chi exercises enhance strength, flexibility, and balance, making it an ideal lifelong activity. The practice involves gentle, slow, focused movements, and deep breathing for a serene experience.
Get your feet moving at different times of the year and join our vibrant variety of line dancing classes. Whether you're a beginner or beyond, you can step into the rhythm, have fun, and stay active with our delightful instructor and community of dancers.
Stay-Well Chair Exercise
Join us on Zoom for a month-long aerobics workshop that will help build endurance and strengthen your body, mind, and soul. This chair aerobics class is designed for those seeking a gentle yet lively form of exercise. This fun, music-filled class will help you to forget you are even exercising.
Find your center.
At CMAP, we embrace both body and mind. Our programs focus on nurturing mental clarity and physical vitality, recognizing the interconnectedness of overall well-being.
Taking place from late spring to early fall, this free program typically takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in the morning offering excellent options for safe walking in and around the beautiful trails of Princeton. Walking sticks and canes are welcome.
Elevate your agility and camaraderie with lively table tennis sessions at the Suzanne Patterson Building on 45 Stockton Street. Join us for engaging matches that foster fun and friendly competition, enhancing both your physical prowess and social connections.
Throughout the year, we aim to offer mindfulness activities, sessions, or courses that allow you to cultivate present-moment awareness through focused attention on breath, sensations, and thoughts. It offers a serene path to reduce stress, enhance cognitive clarity, and foster emotional well-being, promoting a more balanced and harmonious aging experience.
From time to time, we will offer different styles of wellness retreats from spa treatments to meditation groups. These experiences provide an opportunity for participants to find inner balance and rejuvenate within a tranquil, nurturing, and communal setting designed to restore both mind and body.
Smash it like a pickleball pro.
Pickleball is a dynamic and addictive paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Its fast-paced nature, easy learning curve, and social appeal make it an awesome game for players of all ages and skill levels.
