NJ SHARES is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to New Jersey residents who are struggling with their utility bills, particularly heating and energy bills. The organization aims to help individuals and families facing temporary financial hardships by offering financial assistance and support.
NJ SHARES coordinates the PAGE program which stands for Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric. This is a state-funded utility assistance program that helps low to moderate-income families in New Jersey pay their utility bills.

Safelink Wireless

Provides a free wireless phone and free minutes each month to qualified households under a government funded Lifeline Assistance program. This program provides free wireless service, a free wireless phone with an allotment of monthly minutes and unlimited emergency calling. Eligibility is based on yearly household income or participation in a government assistance program. The recipient must be located in a SafeLink wireless coverage area.

Utility Assistance - Lifeline Credit Program

Lifeline consists of three programs: (1)Lifeline Credit Program provides a $225 credit on electric and gas utility bills for eligible beneficiaries. (2)Tenants Lifeline Assistance Program provides a $225 check to eligible tenants who have the cost of gas and electric utilities included in their rent. (3)Special Utility Supplement provides a supplement of up to $18.75 a month to recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) in place of a Lifeline Utility credit or Tenants Lifeline Assistance payment. Must be a recipient of PAAD; Must meet the eligibility requirements for PAAD; Must be a recipient of Medical Assistance to the Aged (MAA); Must be a recipient of Medical Assistance Only (MAO); or must be a recipient of the New Jersey Care. Eligibility is based on yearly household income or participation in a government assistance program. The recipient must be located in a SafeLink wireless coverage area.
